Romantic Weekend Getaways – What Should You Look For?

by admin on November 1, 2009

If you are looking for romantic weekend getaways there are now plenty of choices for you to choose from wherever you live. First of all you need to decide what kind of romantic getaway you want. Are you looking for an impersonal hotel, or something quaint and unusual like a bed and breakfast place for the weekend? Are you looking for a countryside getaway, or do you want to have the advantages of a big city?

Whatever your choice is, plan your weekend carefully with your partner. Decide what activities you want to do, may be you’ll want to wander around all the museums, or perhaps go shopping in the quaint little shops a particular location offers. Or maybe you’ll want to go site seeing, which can be a really fun thing to do for the two of you.

Now by opting for a romantic weekend getaway, you are less likely to want to do any cooking, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot on lavish meals. You could plan a picnic – some hotels and residences will provide these if you ask in advance – so a browse around a local supermarket could easily provide you with all you need, especially since many stores now offer ready cooked chickens and fries. This will usually be a cheaper and more fun option than going for a fast food type of meal, although if that is your choice, then you will have a lot more options.

This weekend is all about the two of you spending quality time together, and you may choose to rent a few movies, or you may actually go out to watch a movie just like you probably did when you were just getting to know one another.

You might also plan what can and cannot be talked about during your weekend getaway. Work is a definite no-no, as it is sure to break any relaxing mood you have created. And you may want to turn off your cell phones, just checking in occasionally if you feel it is absolutely necessary. Oh, and no laptops are allowed, unless you take one along so that you can check out which activities are available to you in this new location. But, if you do take a laptop, do not use it for work, or responding to emails – this time is for you and your partner, and nothing should spoil this or change the mood of your romantic weekend getaways.

To add to your weekend getaway, you might want to take along a few little treats, or plan to get them while you are there, something that you would not normally have. Of course chocolate is a nice treat for many, but rather than a block of chocolate, may be purchase a box o chocolates, something a little different and out of the ordinary. After all, it’s not every week that you can manage to have romantic weekend getaways!
